I was taught as a child to never take "the name of the Lord" in vain. That meant not using "God!", "Oh God!" etc., as casual, thoughtless expressions. Most importantly it meant never, ever to utter the words which would assure one of an immediate reservation in Hell: God damn/dammit.

Exodus 20:7 - King James Version
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

So essentially what I was taught was to never say "God" unless you're talking respectfully to or about him.

This is a nice thought. It sounds holy, respectful and pious. But it is not what this tenet means. Jah's "name" (shem, in Hebrew) is his appellation. One's appellation is their proper means of appeal. It is the way and means by which they are to be called. Jah's appellation is the ordained means by which Jah is to be called:

"Do not take the Lord's name in vain" properly means "Do not take Jah's appellation as evil, destructive or morally wrong".

Exodus 20:7 - Jah People Version
Do not take the appellation (Cannabis, Exodus 34:14) of Jah's might in vain. Jah will not hold guiltless those who take his appellation in vain. [JPV]
Exodus 34:14 - Jah People Version
Obey no other magistrate but Jah who's appellation is Cannabis: the zeal of Jah. [JPV]
Psalm 25:11 - Jah People Version
The appellation (cannabis) of jah pardons the punishments of iniquity (Babylon) abundantly. [JPV]
Psalm 69:35-36 - Jah People Version
35
Jah's salvation for Zion will repair the cities judah inhabits.  Our inheritance [JPV]
36
is the seed of his servants: the ordained inheritance of all who love jah's appellation (cannabis) is to reside permanently in it's rest. [JPV]
Psalm 111:9 - Jah People Version
Jah sent redemption unto the people: his command and covenant forever: sacred and revered is jah's appellation (Cannabis). [JPV]
Isaiah 50:10-11 - Jah People Version
10
Revere jah and listen to his servant. Be eased of your misery with his brilliancy. Trust the appellation of jah (Cannabis, Psalms 69:36) and support yourselves as gods (Psalms 82:6). [JPV]
11
Kindle fire to gird yourself with his bond and walk in the light of his bond: kindle jah's hand (cannabis, Isaiah 66:14) and rest from anguish. [JPV]
Isaiah 62:2 - Jah People Version
The heathen (profane order) shall respect natural right; jah's royal copiousness calls forth his new name via the mouth with jah's appellation (cannabis, Psalm 111:9) [JPV]
Isaiah 66:5 - Jah People Version
Declare the word of jah and respect his command.  Others hate and prohibit jah's appellation (cannabis, Exodus 34:14).  Jah commands: promote my appellation to honor and experience exceeding joy without shame. [JPV]
Isaiah 66:7 - Jah People Version
Bring my appellation (cannabis) forth and bear children: my rope of love (cannabis, Hosea 11:4) rescues mankind. [JPV]

Jah's appellation is for healing, not condemning. It is not possible to damn anything other than Babylon (confusion) with Jah's appellation. It's purpose is to purify:

Exodus 30:29 - Jah People Version
It (Cannabis) purifies everything it touches and is for sanctification of one's self. [Exodus 30:29, JPV]
Exodus 20:8 - Jah People Version
Burn Jah's incense (Cannabis, Isaiah 30:33) on the sabbath day to purify it. [JPV]

The unwise only damn themselves (suffer unnecessarily) by rejecting it due to confusion:

Isaiah 53:2-3 - Jah People Version
2
Be high before Jah with Jah's tender plant (Cannabis, Exodus 34:14) which takes root in dry earth.  His form is magnificent; it is a beautiful sight to take delight in. [JPV]
3
It is despised and rejected by men of false knowledge.  They experience sickness because they avoid, despise and plot against it. [JPV]
Proverbs 3:33-35 - Jah People Version
33
The curse of jah upon the house of the wicked is the blessing of the pasture (cannabis) of the just.  [JPV]
34
Scoffers scoff while jah gives grace (chen: cannabis) to the lowly. [JPV]
35
The wise inherit this glory.  Confusion is promoted by fools. [JPV]
Proverbs 14:1 - Jah People Version
Wise women build up their families. Fools destroy the Hand (Cannabis, Isaiah 66:14) [JPV]

Tenets:

Exodus 20:7-8 - Jah People Version
7
Do not take the appellation (Cannabis, Exodus 34:14) of Jah's might in vain. Jah will not hold guiltless those who take his appellation in vain. [JPV]
8
Burn Jah's incense (Cannabis, Isaiah 30:33) on the sabbath day to purify it. [JPV]
Psalm 69:30 - Jah People Version
I will praise the character of Jah with a song, and will advance the extension of Jah's Hand (Cannabis, Isaiah 66:14) [Psalms 69:29-30, JVP]

Jah's hand and appellation: Cannabis.

Vanity asserts prohibition and regulation.

Love one another. Do not allow Jah's appeallation to be taken in vain.
